Sindh Governor and chief minister urged to stop removal of steel cabins

02 Feb, 2012

Hundreds of steel-cabin owners in Jamshed and Gulshan towns have appealed to Sindh Chief Minister and Governor to issue instructions for stopping removal of their cabins by the anti-encroachment cell of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
The city council had approved a unanimous resolution during the tenure of defunct City District Government Karachi for installing the cabins in all areas of the city aimed at providing employment to thousands of people, while town administrations had also issued them challan in this connection. More than 1000 cabins are installed in both towns worth millions of rupees.
They alleged that the action was being taken after their refusal to pay the bribe demanded by the concerned officers. They said they were earning their livelihood through the cabins and had no other income source.
They appealed to the provincial government to intervene in the matter and order to stop removal/dismantling of their cabins.
