ARL profit after tax increases to Rs 2.32 billion

The profit after tax of Attock Refinery Limited has increased to Rs 2.322 billion in the half year period ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 1.502 billion earned in the corresponding period in 2010. The company's earning per share has increased to Rs 27.22 in the period under review against Rs 17.61 in the same period a year back.
The company's earning per share from refiner operations increased to Rs 14.18 against Rs 8.63 while earning per share from non-refinery operations increased to Rs 13.04 against Rs 8.98. The board of directors of the company in its meeting held on Wednesday at Dubai, UAE approved an interim cash dividend for the half year ended December 31, 2011 at Rs 1.50 per share ie 15 percent.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's net sales increased to Rs 72.303 billion in the half year period in 2011 against Rs 50.614 billion in the same period in 2010. The cost of sales increased to Rs 70.317 billion against Rs 50.614 billion.
On quarterly basis, the company's profit after tax increased to Rs 1,428.764 million translating earning per share of Rs 16.75 in the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to after tax profit of Rs 918.835 million with per share earning of Rs 10.77 in the same quarter last year.
