Risks to lives and public property still alarmingly exist in the capital despite tall claims of the law enforcement agencies that they have strengthened security across the city. Besides car lifting, robbery, cases of murder and car snatching at gunpoint were another addition to the increasing crime scene.
During last week three cases of murder (in which one person was killed by car snatchers) and 10 cases of robbery were reported at different police station. Owing to rising crime and failure of police to arrest the criminals there is growing sense of insecurity among residents of the capital in the presence of hundreds of police pickets erected around the city.
The murder of three people and occurrence of 10 cases of robbery in just one week and that too in the otherwise safe capital is undoubtedly a big blow to the performance of police and a bad impression about the law and order situation in Islamabad, said a senior official of police while talking to Business Recorder.
In the last week Sihala Police Station registered three cases of robbery. A case of robbery and a person was killed by unknown people in broad day light in the limits of Bhara Kahu Police Station. Similarly, carjackers shot dead a taxi driver in the limits of Tarnol Police after snatching car from him this week past.
