Rain, snowfall over hilly areas predicted

MET Office Director General Dr Hanif said on Saturday there would be rain with snowfall over the hills at scattered places of Northeast Balochistan, KPK, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in the next few days. Lowest temperature recorded in Parachinar -15, Kalam -10, Astore, Bunji and Skardu -7, Gupis -5.
He said the next spell of rain would cause rainfall within one or two days. From Tuesday onward the weather will remain dry and cold which will continue till next five days. He said in Layya/Bhakkar areas there would be light rain in the next 24 hours, adding this year the spring season would be delayed and spring would come in the first week of March and will be for short time.
In Sindh the weather conditions are clear and the temperature will be as usual but after three days cold weather will start and the temperature will be dropped in the most coastal areas. Replying to a question, he said due to global warming ozone layers were badly affected and climate conditions were changed since few years, adding according to the scientists there was global warming and it would be increased in the coming years.
He said the summer season would be started in the mid of April and it would bring change in the temperature suddenly and this season would be very hard as it had been in the last few years. Replying another question, he said in the current spell there was good amount of rainfall in the arid/agricultural areas which left positive impacts on the wheat crops and more rain were expected in these areas.
