Chief minister Punjab discusses Kharak tragedy

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has presided over a meeting regarding Kharak incident, which occurred on Multan Road in a pharmaceutical factory. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Member National Assembly Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretaries of Home, Law, Health and Housing departments, Director General LDA, Chairman Chief Minister's Inspection Team, District Co-ordination Officer Lahore and officers concerned were present.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Kharak tragedy is a heart rendering incident, a number of precious lives have been lost. He said that a committee has already been constituted for investigation those involve would be punished. He said that five lakh rupees are being paid to the heirs of each person who died in Kharak tragedy and Rs 75,000 to each given injured persons. He said that the further process of financial assistance will be completed in a day or two.
The Chief Minister said that government job will also be provided to a person of each affected family, for which a committee has been constituted and in the light of its recommendations, jobs will be provided. He directed that complete survey be carried out regarding the existing industrial units in the residential areas throughout the province and the process of this survey be completed at the earliest.
He said that the survey report about the existing industrial units in the residential areas be submitted to the cabinet committee and in the light of its recommendations, a comprehensive policy would be evolved for this purpose. He said that the persons involve for Kharak incident will be punished and if police officers, LDA department or any other department were found involved, strict action will be taken against them.
