The Karachi Port handled 137,616 tonnes of cargo comprising1 82,018 tonnes of import cargo and 55,598 tonnes of export cargo including 4,752 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 82,018 tonnes comprised of 20,673 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,880 tonnes of general cargo; 1,701 tonnes of wheat and 56,764 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 55,598 tonnes comprised of 46,086 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of general cargo; 9,412 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,440 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 3,972 tonnes of rice. Four ships namely Valerie Schulte, Hyundai Freedom, Lindavia and MT Quetta with three container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz Hanjin Monaco, Violetta, Tabernacle Prince and CF Crystal with two container ships and two bulk cargo ships respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Glen Canyon Bridge and Hanjin Monaco with two container ships sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while one general cargo ship namely King Hero is expected to sail on Wednesday.
One container vessel viz Marcampania due to arrive on Tuesday, while eight vessels viz DL Ace, Shoko Maru, Bravo, Helsinki, UASC Sharjah, APL Brisbane, Grate Eternity and Wo Long Song with two ethanol ships, four container ships, one steel coils carrier and general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
