LSE index maintains upward trend

Upward trend continued at the Lahore Stock Exchange on Wednesday and equities gained on the basis buying spree in the market. The LSE-25 index increased by 41.22 points and closed on 3249.25 points against 3208.03 on Tuesday. Trading volume continued upward pace to 4.562 million shares against 3.224 million shares a day earlier.
Market remained in positive vicinity for major part of the day and many a scrip registered buying activity. However, there was also selling pressure for a while but yet the market settled itself and selected buying continued to attract day jobbers. Engro Foods Ltd, Treet Corporation Ltd, Arif Habib Corporation, Pakistan Reinsurance Co, Engro Polymer & Chemicals, Fatima Fertiliser, NBP, FFC, Faui Fertiliser Bin Qasim and Nishat Mills Ltd were among major gainers of the market.
Meanwhile, HBL, Engro Corporation Ltd, MCB Bank, Bank Al-Habib, PPL, OGDCL, Silk Bank and KASB Bank were closed in negative column. Still the gainers ruled the market against the losers, as out of 112 active issues, 38 companies posted gains and 8 registered downward trend while 66 companies glued to their previous levels.
The Bank of Punjab lead the volume leaders with 59 paisa, followed by Pace Pakistan Ltd, Javed Omar Vohra & Co, Fauji Cement Co, Silk Bank, Fatima Fertiliser, Askari Bank, Dewan Salman Fibre, Bank Al-Habib and NIB Bank Ltd with 11 paisa, 30 paisa, 05 paisa, 06 paisa, 80 paisa, 03 paisa, 26 paisa, 42 paisa and 04 paisa respectively.
