Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Wednesday in which he highly appreciated the warmth and the hospitality extended to the Indian delegation by the business community of Pakistan.
He said that there was a lot of scope of trade between Pakistan and India and he witnessed the real enthusiasm in Pakistan to promote economic relations between the two countries. The prime minister recalled his meetings with the Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh who, he said, is a sincere leader who really wanted good relations between the two countries and resolution of all out-standing issues.
The prime minister said that the normalisation of relations between the two countries would be mutually beneficial for the people of both countries. The prime minister informed the Indian Commerce Minister that the Cabinet had mandated the Ministry of Commerce to normalise trade relations with India. The roadmap of trade normalisation as agreed in the meetings of the Commerce Secretaries in New Delhi last November would be implemented as per the agreement.
Indian High Commissioner along with other officials of the Indian Embassy was present on the occasion. Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Secretary Commerce, Pakistan's High Commissioner to India and senior officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce were also present in the meeting.-PR
