Two killed, three injured in road accident

At least two persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Jackson police remits on Thursday. According to police, the incident took place at West Wharf road near TDLP Building where a speedy trailer (TLC-178) rammed into six vehicles including four rickshaws (D-58166, D-02943, D-31306, D-76731), taxi (JL-6168) and a mini truck (KMJ-8064), leaving seven persons injured.
They said the victims, who were identified as Nadeem, 45, son of Gul Muhammad, Sultan, 41, son of Abdur Rehman, Malik Saeed, 40, son of Azam, Akram, 18, son of Aziz, Salahuddin, 30, son of Akbar, Ayaz, 27, and Kashif, 30, were transported to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
Police said the victim Nadeem died on spot while the injured Sultan succumbed to his injuries during treatment. They said the driver managed to flee from the scene while the police impounded his vehicle and were going to register a case. They said the deceased Nadeem was the resident of Baldia Town while the victim Sultan hailed from Peshawar.
MLO CHK Aftab Chunnar confirmed that the hospital staff received seven persons, of them; two lost their lives while the conditions of rest of them were said to be stable. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of the area staged protest demonstration to express resentment against this tragic incident. The protesters held the municipal department responsible for the said accident as they diverted two-way vehicular traffic on single road to carry out construction activity on the opposite side. They said this construction activity could have done in night when the traffic flow was low but the same is being done in daylight that led to sketch this horrified incident.
