Rs 9.1 million looted from bank in Peshawar

Four masked robbers made good their escape after looting Rs 9.1 million from a branch of United Bank Limited (UBL) in commercial areas of Dabgari Garden in limits of cantonment circle in broad daylight here on Thursday.
According to Mohammad Ali, Manager (operations) UBL Dabgari branch told East Cantonment police that he was on duty when about four masked men entered the building, held the staff at gunpoint and looted Rs 9.1 million at about 9am.
He said the gangsters entered the bank, made the entire staff hands up and started collecting the cash from the counter and from the safe as well. Another source said dacoits had also subjected the security guard to violence and snatched his rifle. He said they had also taken away with them the close circuit cameras. However, the police said that the footage was safe but they did not share further details. A case, they said had been registered against unidentified dacoits and investigation was under way.
