Community participation termed vital for dengue eradication

Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Dr Saeed Elahi has said that welfare of youth and promotion of education is the first priority of chief minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as students can play a pivotal role in spreading awareness among the masses and this can result in complete eradication of dengue.
He expressed these views at 'Dengue Awareness Seminar', held at Government College for Women, Gulberg, here Friday. Elahi said that despite all activities and measures of the government, community participation is inevitable for dengue eradication. Addressing the seminar, Dr Somia Iqtidar, Senior Consultant, Mayo Hospital and Master Trainer delivered a lecture on preventive measures and source-eradication of dengue mosquito. Dr Zahid Pervaiz said though government has taken all necessary measures to control dengue-virus and made arrangements for its treatment in public-sector hospitals, but every individual of the society has to play his role for keeping his house and surroundings neat and clean.
