Two men gunned down in city

The unabated targeted killings continued in the city as two more persons were gunned down in the limits of Yousuf plaza police station on Friday. According to police, the incident took place at Irshad Autos situated in Sagheer Centre block 16 F B Area where three armed riders barged into the shop and opened indiscriminate gunshots. Resultantly two persons namely Rizwan Shamsi, 36 son of Abdul Malik and Akbar son of Ilyas Sheikh received multiple shots and died on the spot.
The shooters managed to flee after committing this heinous crime. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities. Following the said incident, tension engulfed at all surrounding areas where all shops and markets were closed.
DSP Shiraz Akhtar Siddiqui said the victim Rizwan was the resident of Korangi J area and was serving as mechanic in Irshad Autos for the last 13 years, while Akbar was his friend. He said the victim Akbar belonged to Tableeghi Jamaat and added that they might have been murdered over sectarian ground. Later the bodies were handed over to the heirs after medico legal formalities. Sources said the victim Rizwan was an activist of MQM but no police official has confirmed his affiliation. No case was registered till filing of this report.
