Vocational training centre: Japan to provide Rs 8.6 million for construction

The Consulate General of Japan, Karachi, on behalf of the Government of Japan is holding the grant contract signing ceremony with Starfish Karachi, entitled the "Project for Constructing Starfish Vocational Training Centre at SITE Town in Karachi".
For this project, the Consulate General of Japan shall provide Starfish Karachi with US $101,007 ( about Rs 8.6 million) in order to construct a vocational training centre in a disadvantaged Christian community of SITE Town and to install equipments for different kinds of the technical training.
The signing ceremony will take place on Monday, (February 20) at the Japan Cultural Centre of the Consulate General of Japan, Karachi. Masaharu Sato, the Consul General of Japan will represent the Japanese government while the President Anser Javed will represent Starfish Karachi.
The Government of Japan has been keenly promoting the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) in Pakistan since 1989, amounting to more than 200 projects throughout the Pakistan, assisting in the fields of health, primary education, water supply, environment, vocational training, agriculture and various other fields. Its main purpose is to support NGOs and local government bodies, by covering the costs of relatively small projects, which find it difficult to manage on their own.
