FAP expands operations to district, tehsil levels

Farmers Associates Pakistan (FAP) has announced to expand its operations to district and tehsil level, in the first phase, the 14 district governors were appointed in this regard. This was announced at 119th extra ordinary general body meeting of the FAP held the other day. The newly elected governors were administered oath by the Chairman, FAP, Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
FAP President Dr Tariq Bucha informed that another 13 members will be appointed by 31st March 2012 that will complete Farmers Associates Pakistan outreach to the district level in the first phase for direct access and interaction between farmers of the respective districts enabling FAP for making full and concerted efforts to resolve their problems and create an effective interaction and linkage.
He further added that after one year FAP plans to further expand to the tehsil and later to the union council level for on the spot contact with the farmers at the grass root level. Tariq Bucha said FAP has more than 2,000 members at present from all over Pakistan, which will grow to 5,000 by June 2013. Through this system FAP has already facilitated more than 1100 farmers in getting fertiliser (Urea) at control prices thereby reaping a benefit of 20 million rupees. FAP has further made arrangements for providing certified and high quality seeds and pesticides to its memberZs for increasing their productivity and viability.
