Punjab government to give laptops to special students

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government will give free laptops to the special students getting higher education. These laptops have been designed especially for the disabled persons to help the students in their education.
While presiding over a meeting at Arfa Software Technology Park here on Friday, the Chief Minister directed commissioners to evolve a procedure for distribution of laptops within seven days. Sharif further directed that laptops should also be given to 22 students of Lahore College for Women University who were not provided laptops under the scheme launched by the Punjab government.
He said Special Assistant on Higher Education Zaeem Qadri and Secretary Higher Education should visit all districts of the province so that the problems being faced by the students regarding provision of laptops could immediately be resolved. He further directed that the divisional commissioners should dispose of all necessary matters relating to provision of laptops to educational institutions of their respective divisions within a week and submit a report in this regard.
Shahbaz Sharif said that provision of laptops to the students was recognition of their hard work and talent. He said the Punjab government would continue such schemes for the benefit of the talented students so that they could be encouraged. He asked the students community to devote all their energies for getting knowledge and take full benefit of the governmental steps taken for the promotion of higher education.
Provincial Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Special Assistant on Higher Education Zaeem Qadri, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Higher Education, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, Commissioner Lahore Division, Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi and 22 students of Lahore College for Women University attended the meeting.
The students while paying rich tributes to the Chief Minister Punjab for providing laptops to them said that this facility would help them keep contact with the world as well as getting awareness about the latest knowledge, for which they were thankful to the Khadim-e-Aala.
