A cargo volume of 43,188 tonnes, comprising 41,274 tonnes of import cargo and 1,914 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 39 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 41,274 tonnes includes 22,755 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,069 tonnes of fertiliser; 11,950 tonnes of coal and 500 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 1,914 tonnes includes 1,014 tonnes of cement and 900 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Estia with diesel oil is expected to sail on Saturday morning.
A total number of five CV Safmarine Nigami, MT Estia, MV Florida-II, MV STX Daisy and MV Ever Shining are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, diesel oil, fertiliser and coal respectively during last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely Arrilah and Lion with palm oil and rice respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A coal carrier namely MT Sichem Pace is expected to take berth at Iron Ore & Coal Berth on Saturday.
