Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that infrastructure is of great importance for rapid development, and the provincial government is spending billions of rupees for improvement of the means of communication.
He said that a network of roads, bridges, flyovers and underpasses is being laid so that best travelling facilities could be available to the masses. He said that transparency, quality construction, and timely completion of the projects are the hallmark of Punjab government. He said that the Kalma Chowk flyover, on Ferozepur Road, is a masterpiece of architecture. Similarly, people will get rid of traffic problems through the construction of 'Canal Flyover', and trade activities will increase on Ferozepur Road, he added.
He expressed these views on Sunday during inspection of under-construction Canal Flyover on Ferozepur Road. MPAs Muhammad Nauman and Ijaz Ahmad, Lahore Commissioner, LDA DG, Lahore DCO and Brigadier Shahid Majeed of NLC were also present on this occasion.
The CP said that Canal Flyover would be inaugurated on March 23. He directed Lahore DCO to identify a suitable piece of land for constructing parking plaza on Ferozepur Road for convenience of the people and traders. While giving direction to constitute a supervisory committee for ensuring completion of the Canal Flyover within the stipulated period, he said that this committee would regularly supervise the construction work.
He directed the Chief Traffic Officer to ensure smooth flow of traffic so that the people should not face difficulty during construction work on Ferozepur Road.
DG Parks & Horticulture Authority informed the CM that green areas would be developed alongside Canal Flyover. Earlier, Secretary, Communication & Works, Azam Suleman, briefing the Chief Minister, said that the work on the project of Canal Flyover was going round the clock. He said that this project would be unique of its kind with regard to the quality of construction through which people would be fully benefited.
