A team of high profile foreign plastic surgeons on Sunday conducted free plastic surgeries on poor cleft lip and cleft palate patients. Dr Ijaz Bashir, Secretary General of Pakistan Cleft Lip and Palate Association (PCLAPA) told APP that on the invitation of association, top foreign plastic surgeons visited Pakistan for conducting free operations of poor patients.
He said that during six-day long 29th camp, surgeons would continue to perform plastic operations. He said that surgeries, treatments, medicines, hospitalization, stay and food was being provided free of cost to all patients.
He said that all patients prior to plastic surgeries were examined by a board of foreign experts for proper specialised medical treatment. He said since 1996, a total of 2405 children were operated upon with 100 percent successes and so far 11,250 were examined at dedicated Bashir Hospital, Railway Road Gujrat.
Dr Akhtar Rehman, PCLAPA President of Islamabad chapter, said that poor patients who even cannot afford travelling expenses, were registered for examination and treatment.
He said that association operates as a registered charitable institution which runs its financial matters with donations and contributions from Zakat and Sadaqaat (Alms) mainly from its own members.
