Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to introduce amendments in syllabus: Iftikhar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussein Tuesday said that after 18th Constitutional Amendment, preparation of syllabus had become a provincial subject, saying the government has decided to revisit the syllabus to bring it in line with the needs of the modern era.
Addressing a function held in connections with World Mother Tongues Day here in Nishtar Hall, he added that the Pashto subject would be re-introduced in all the education institutions including private institutions as compulsory subject and those who did not acted upon this decision, would be punished accordingly. The function was jointly arranged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture Department and Poha Khprawonkai Jirga. The function besides others was also addressed by the Chairman Textbook Board Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr Fazal Rahim Marwat, Raj Wali Khan Khattak, Sadullah Jan Barq, Rahmat Shah Sail, Habibullah Rafi, Yar Mohammad Maghmoom, Akbar Siyal and Mukhtar Yousafzai and spoke on the importance of mother languages.
The provincial minister said that the government was initiating crash training programme for teaching of Pashto subject. He announced that culture would be introduced as subject in the syllabus. He clarified that the name of this province is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and those using name other than Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were committing constitutional crime adding that such criminals would be sternly dealt under the law.
