Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Friday set up a protest camp outside Karachi Press Club to raise voice for the rights of Baloch people, urging the government to review its policies towards the violence-hit province. With setting up a camp, JI became the first political party in the city, which stepped up its support to Baloch people, demanding of the rulers to end their policies of victimisation and bring the centrifugal province in the mainstream affairs.
The camp attendees had banners and placards along with party flags. The banners read as "we condemn the US resolution on Balochistan", "Musharraf be hanged", etc. At the camp opening, Central Deputy Chief of JI, Professor Ghafoor Ahmed vowed to support the just cause of the Baloch nation for their rights.
Talking to media men, he demanded of the government to reconsider its policies towards Balochistan without any further delays. He said the government should give the Baloch people their just rights. Slamming the government for its policies, he said the role of intelligence agencies had also been negative towards the Baloch people. He demanded of the government to recover the missing people forthwith.
The JI leader said the people of Balochistan had always fought for the country's unity and helped the nation retain its territorial integrity. He said the Baloch people were as patriotic as any other segment of the society. He said Pakistani nation was supporting the just cause of Baloch people for their rights. Professor Ghafoor said the government's anti-social policies toward Balochistan led to chaos in the province, adding that rulers should renounce its annoying policies and give constitutional rights to the struggling nation.
