25 Feb, 2012

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the judiciary to investigate into exploitation of sugarcane growers by the sugar millers. KBP warned the sugar millers to refrain from exploiting the growers. "The Board would be compelled to take a direct action if exploitation of the farmers continued", said KBP Central President Sardar Zafar Hussein and Secretary Information Haji Muhammad Ramzan while talking to a delegation of sugarcane growers here on Friday.
KBP leaders expressed their deep concern over injustice being done by the sugar millers, delaying the payments, lower rates and deduction. They also alleged that sugar millers belong to the big political parties of the country so the rulers had given a free hand to the millers to exploit the growers and the consumers. He said sowing of sugarcane decreased by 25 percent this year due to injustices of the millers and it might decrease to 50 percent in the next season.
