Jamaat-i-Islami, Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the PPP government had done maximum harm to the workers and the labourers for the last four years. Addressing the central executive of the National Labour Federation (NLF) at Mughulpura on Saturday, he said that thousands of factories and industrial units had been closed due to load shedding of electricity and gas rendering millions of workers unemployed.
Unending price spiral and unemployment had forced the workers and their families to starve, he added. JI Naib Ameer, Sirajul Haq, newly elected NLF President Shamsur Rahman Swati and NLF Secretary General, Abdur Razzaq Abbasi also spoke on the occasion.
Munawar Hasan said that leading national institutions including PIA, Railways, Steel Mills and Wapda had been destroyed due to corruption and mismanagement and there was no effort on the government level to salvage these. JI urged the masses to rise against the corrupt and incompetent rulers and warned that if the rulers were allowed more time, the situation would go out of control.
He said the foremost responsibility of a democratic government was to protect the life and property of the masses and provide them the basic necessities of life. But on the other hand, he said, the government was snatching every facility from the masses and exploiting them in the worst manner.
