Tribal elders from Waziristan agency have announced to intensify their protest campaign against US-secret drone attacks in the Federally Administrative Tribal Areas, saying that restoration of sustainable peace is inevitable for development of tribal region.
Hundreds of tribal elders' affiliation with different groups, political factions and ordinary tribesmen took part in a long march started from Waziristan to Federal Capital Islamabad under the ongoing protest drive against the US growing meddling in tribal region. About 40 vehicles of tribal elders' caravan reached Peshawar, where they staged a protest demonstration against US-drone attacks outside the Peshawar Press Club here on Saturday.
The rally led by Khan Marjan, a tribal elder, Noor Behram Khan, and leader of PTI FATA region, Iqbal Afridi. The demonstrators were holding placards and banners yell voices for establishment of sustainable peace in FATA and against the unprecedented CIA-sponsored drone drive in the tribal region. They raised full-throated slogans against growing US interference in country affairs, especially targeting innocent tribesmen in the prolonged US-predators campaign in FATA.
The protesters while speaking on the occasion condemned the invigorating US-drone campaign in the Warizristan and other tribal agencies. They said that the peace efforts would jeopardise in the lawless tribal areas owing to imposition of government US appeasement policy.
"We want peace and stability in tribal region, but this will not way to bring peace under an unauthorised US-predators campaign, said a tribal elder. He said that peace is inevitable for development and prosperity in the tribal region. PTI activist FATA region, Iqbal Afridi said that the unprecedented US-drone campaign had targeted innocent civilian, including women, children and aged. He added that the efforts for restoration of peace and stability were ineffective in presence of US-growing campaign inside tribal region.
