The fans of legendary Pashto films actress late Yasmin Khan thronged a show organised by the under the auspices of the Department of Culture in collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Forum to pay tributes to her contribution in the promotion of Pakhtun culture.
The Provincial Minister for Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussein was the chief guest on the occasion, the Secretary Culture and other officials of the department were also attended the show. Mian Iftikhar, while tributes to the legendary actress as not proclaimed queen of Pashto cinema, who ruled the hearts of her fans for a long period of 25 years. He said her services for Pashto film industry will be remembered forever.
He said that the prevailing difficult situation of terrorism and had turned the people of the province psychiatric patients and thousands of innocent people have fall victims to terrorism. He said that the aim of holding such functions is to bring smile on the faces of terrorized people and provide few moments of entertainment.
The provincial minister said that beside a serious actress, she was also a very good human. He said that Yasmin Khan was a brave and famous actress and never took support of obscenity and vulgarity in her career and on sensing the promotion of the menace she abandoned the field.
He said that the present government has decided payment of tributes to top elders and those have shown outstanding performance in different walks of life and will organise such functions to aware new generations about them. He said that such functions will not be held in memory of those who had died, but also in honour of those who are alive. Mian Iftikhar said that they had never forgotten the agony of the nation, it passing through and will not hesitate from rendering the required sacrifices.
He also paid rich tributes to Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan, who he said in his movie 'My Name is Khan' he had realistically represented Pakhtun nation and fulfilled the right as Pakhtun. He urged the film industry to follow Shahrukh Khan. He also announced the renovation of the grave of late Yasmin Khan and gave away a cheque of Rs 0.2 million to the widow of late Lollywood star Tariq Shah.
Meanwhile, a large number of the fans of late Miss Khan in different age attended the show. However, attendance from Lollywood remained very poor as only her three colleagues included Asif Khan, Jameel Babar and film Pashto film producer, Qaiser Sanober turned up to the event.
The event was part of the series of initiative started by the Pakhtuns' nationalists ANP led government for the revival of the melted down cultural activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The jam-packed Nishter Hall was fully speaking love and honour given to her by fans even after 13 years of her death. A documentary show on the life and her services in Lollywood was also show to the audience.
Young artistes performed on unforgettable songs from her blockbuster movies, included the songs from her debut love story movie, 'Yusuf Khan aur Shehr Bano' and other collections. The late actress had worked in record over 200 films. The performance of Arshad Hussein and Mena Gul on melodious cheering and gloomy were fully anticipated by the fans.
Senior Pashto movies, artiste and hero of large number of films with her, Asif Khan remembered her as true Pakhtun woman and very good pronouncer of Pashto language and pretty woman, while Jameel Babar, another hero of that time appreciated the holding of the show for expressing tribute to late actress. Qaiser Sanober, a senior Pashto film producer also paid tributes to Yasmin Khan and her work.
During last one decade, the growing militancy in the province melts down cultural activities forcing artistes, singers and other music related workers to other parts of the country. The initiating of the cultural activities has started bringing artistes back to the province.
