Hoti launches IT Park in Peshawar

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti here on Sunday formally inaugurated Information Technology (IT) Park at Deans Trade Centre. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister said that the present government had taken a historic decision to make investment in IT sector, adding that this little effort besides increasing revenue could also generate employment opportunities for the youth.
He observed that some steps should be taken without any politics and joint efforts were needed to provide jobs to the youth as they were the future of the nation.
Hoti lamented the negligence of the previous governments in this connection, as they should have initiated such projects earlier.
The people of the province had faced and still facing various challenges very patiently and bravely, he said and added that the alleviation of poverty, unemployment and illiteracy are pre-requisites for coming out of these challenges.
He expressed his confidence that the establishment of IT parks in Peshawar and Abbottabad would provide opportunities to the youth of the province to utilise their skill.
On the occasion, Provincial Minister for Science Technology and Information Technology, Mohammad Ayub Khan said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had taken special incentives for national and international software companies and call centres.
Under the package, he said the investors would be extended 80 per cent subsidy under the heads of rent, heating, cooling and electricity.
He urged the IT companies to avail these incentives to treat the cancer of terrorism through imparting education and employment to our youth.
Managing Director, IT Board, Amjad Shahid Afridi highlighted the aims and objectives of the establishment of IT parks in the province.
