Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed police officers to make police stations a symbol of protection for the oppressed where the complainant be given respect and provided complete justice.
He said that the societies based on justice and supremacy of law makes progress. Therefore, police officers and officials should discharge their duties with responsibility and devotion. This was revealed in an information of DGPR received here Sunday. The CM was addressing a function held with regard to giving prizes to police officers and officials who recovered a child kidnapped from Jhang during the day.
Addressing the function, the CM said that through this operation, police has given a message that it is fully alert to protect the life and property of the people. He said that professional and hardworking officers and officials are the assets of the department and he is proud of them. He said the provincial government has also paid special attention to improve the general law and order situation besides curbing crimes during the last three and a half years. He said that experienced and competent police officers are being posted as regional police officers, capital city police officers and district police officers.
Shahbaz said that 15,000 constables have been recruited in the police department on merit. Similarly, recruitment of Assistant Sub Inspectors has been made through Public Service Commission. He said that provincial government has also increased the salaries of police officials for their economic betterment. He said he has directed police officers to share the grief of the masses and become the symbol of protection for the oppressed so that common people do not hesitate going to police stations for seeking help.
Earlier, prizes of rupees Rs1,00,000, 75,000 and 50,000 were distributed among the police team which conducted the operation. Home Secretary and IG Police were also present on the occasion.
