The Lahore High Court has directed Sheikh Zaid Hospital (SZH) to receive 50 per cent fee from the students. The LHC adjourned the proceedings in a petition filed by Joint Secretary Pakistan Medical Association, Dr Salman Kazi. The petitioner contended that SZH is receiving 0.5 million annual fee from the medical students. He said that SZH is being funded by the federal government while other medical colleges run by Punjab government are receiving rupees 14,000 to 30,000 fee annually.
He said it is a discrimination attitude and illegal against the constitutional provisions. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondent SZH to receive fee like other the institutions receiving.
