Jackson police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a father-in-law of one of the MPAs in Sindh Assembly over the charge of releasing two drug peddlers from the lock-up.
According to police, the police had arrested a man namely Sikandar Shah under sections 147, 148, 149, 353, 186 and 225 of Pakistan Penal Code and added that the accused person, who was also social worker of the area, came to police station along with scores of his accomplices after the arrests of two drug peddlers with hashish and released both of them, forcibly.
They said the detained person was the father-in-law of one of the MPAs in Sindh Assembly and was earlier arrested over the charge of kidnapping. Following his arrest, tension prevailed at Sikandarabad where scores of people gathered and staged protest demonstration against the law enforcers. Meanwhile, heavy contingent of police and Rangers were deployed in the area to avert untoward situation.
