Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set up 15,880 display centres in all districts of Sindh to get verified Draft Electoral Rolls (DERs), which would start working from today (February 29) for 21 days, Business Recorder learnt on Tuesday. The ECP after the exercise of door-to-door verification of DERs has sent all the lists to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for re-check which have been sent back by the NADRA to the ECP after necessary exercise.
Following the routine practice, the ECP has set up display centres in every province for the verification and addition of names, corrections and objections would be filed by the people.
The 15,880 display centres would start working in all districts from today including Karachi Central, South, East, West and Malir, Dadu, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Sanghar, Tandoallahyar, Matiari, Naushehroferoze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur Mir's, Shikarpur, Larkana, Sukur, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Jacobabad and Kashmore-Kandhkot.
When contacted, Sindh's Provincial Election Commissioner (PEC) Sono Khan Baloch told Business Recorder that ECP has fixed in charges in every display centre who will guide the people for availability of their names in voter lists. He said that people should go their nearest display centre and confirm their names in voters' lists, if found than ok, if found not than they should contact in charge of centre.
He said if any body would not found name, he should get form-4 from the in charge and submit it immediately at centre, his/her name would be included after the necessary verification. If any body wants to correct his/her address and other data, he should also get form-6 for this purpose and submit it at the display centre, correction would be made after necessary verification, he added.
Baloch further said if any body has the objection over the inclusion of any name, he should also submit his/her objection in written form to the display centres, notices would be issued both the parties then the in charge would decide the fate of objection in the light of statements of objector and objected, he added.
He said if any body received his/her CNIC after the verification of Draft Electoral Rolls, he/she should contact display centre for the inclusion of his/her name in the list.
He said that display centres would work for 21 days from today February 29 to March 20, 2012. After the completion of work, additions would be made in the lists on the recommendations of in charges of display centres and the lists would be sent to NADRA again for the necessary verifications, he added.
After verification by the NADRA, Sono Khan said that lists would be displayed again at the same centres for those people who get part in addition, corrections, objections, as they can make confirm about the inclusion of their names and corrections. This process of inclusion of names and corrections would be continued on and off till the announcement of next general elections, Sono Khan concluded.
