Privilege motion: Sindh Assembly body to submit report in three days

Sindh Assembly's special committee constituted to hear a provincial lawmaker's privilege motion would submit its report in next three days to Speaker Nisar Khohro, sources said on Wednesday. Pakistan Peoples Party's legislator, Javed Shah belongs to Sukkur had submitted a privilege motion during the assembly session for breach of privilege as the police raided his farm without any warrants, held his workers and harassed them.
At this, Speaker Sindh Assembly formed a special committee for want of the privilege committee of the house to hear his case. The committee's meeting was held under the chairmanship of PPP's legislator, Dr Ahmad Ali Shah at the assembly's secretariat.
They said the police high-ups regretted the raid and offered their apology to the committee for breaching the privilege of an assembly member. The officials said that the raid was not aimed at Javed Shah' farm, rather the police personnel were following the dacoits who had hidden in the farm with the abductees.
Those who attended the meeting included Sindh Law Minister, Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Information Minister, Shazia Marri, Sindh Finance Minister, Murad Ali Shah, Dr Sikandar Mandhro and others. DIG Sukkur, Dr Amir Shaikh and SSP Sukkur, Saqib Ismail presented before the committee to record their statements while PPP lawmaker, Javed Shah was also present on the occasion, sources added. The committee would submit its report to the assembly chair in the coming session, sources said.
