The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday paid tribute to a Pakistan female filmmaker, Shermeen Obaid-Chinoy for winning Oscar Award to earn glory for the nation. She won 84th Oscar Award for her documentary "Saving Face" on Tuesday. With Sikandar Mandhro in the chair, scores of resolution from nearly all political parties, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) were present during the session.
Those who paid tribute resolutions were PPP's female legislators - Sindh Information Minister, Shazia Mari, Sindh Women Development Minister, Tauqeer Fatima, PML-F's lawmakers, Marvi Rashdi and Nusrat Sehar Abbasi and MQM's Heer Soho. Although every legislator tried to present a resolution on individual basis to pay tribute to the Oscar Award winner, Shermeen Obaid-Chinoy, the chair at the end of the day passed all moves as one with a unanimous.
Legislators called her a pride to entire nation for glittering Pakistan's face on the world stage, saying the assembly should invite her to the house and pay tribute to her. They said the topic she had chosen to make a documentary on was very sensitive in the society perspective.
