Sindh Agriculture Forestry Workers Co-ordination Organisation (SAFWCO) organised one-day seminar on strengthening socio economic status of home based bouquet and garment alteration in non-formal settlement at the Hyderabad Press Club. The seminar was organised by SAFWCO under ILO and UN-Women banner.
Regional Business Co-ordinator, SMEDA Hyderabad Ikhtiar Ahmed Khoso was the chief guest of the event said that SMEDA as a key stakeholder in the project facilitated the women entrepreneurs to develop sustainable businesses through product diversification and development of market linkages. He said that SMEDA with SAFWCO has jointly organised technical and capacity building training programmes for selected women entrepreneurs to raise their income through diversification and enhancement of their businesses.
Highlighting the role of SMEDA, he said that it is a flagship organisation for SMEs in the country. He said that SMEs constitutes 3.2 million of enterprises in the country. A lot of enterprises are facing indigenous problems and reluctant to adopt change and up-gradation.
Keeping in view the need of sector we at the platform of SMEDA are facilitating SMEs in start-up of new business, up-gradation of existing business, helping in identification, business plan development, familiarisation of legal laws, polices, procedures, business matchmaking and capacity building activities, he said. Khoso also said that SMEDA has played a crucial role in this project that is specially designed for women workers on product diversification, negotiation and matchmaking of non-formal settlement.
