Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hasan has strongly condemned the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton's threat to Pakistan over its gas pipeline project with Iran. In a statement issued here on Thursday, he stressed upon the government to ignore the US threats and speed up the project with the neighbouring country, which could be trusted in difficult times.
The JI chief said that the US designs towards this country had never been hidden but Hillary's statement had exposed Washington once again. The US had never been Pakistan's friend nor could it be in future. The US was friend of India alone and wanted to build India as regional policeman and had been protecting its interests. He wondered if such a clear threat was not enough to open the rulers' eyes. Hasan advised the government to give a clear message to Washington that Pakistan could not offer itself as fuel for the US war any more.
He said that the resolution tabled in the US Congress on Balochistan was actually aimed at keeping Islamabad under pressure and paving way for its disintegration. The US attitude towards Pakistan had always been hypocritical, as it had always been trying to destabilise this country. It was a pity that the Pakistani rulers had always been deceived by the US double talk.
