Taiwan stocks closed 0.32 percent higher on Friday, off the day's high, with electronics-related sectors broadly higher at the expense of defensives such as transport, and cement. The main TAIEX index rose 25.70 points to 8,144.04. It had risen to as high as 8,170.72 earlier in the session, following gains in regional bourses.
The market will open on Saturday March 3 for a full session in lieu of a holiday on Feb 27. Electronic components topped the gainers, up 1.29 percent, with the broader electronics sub-index up 0.47 percent. Transport shares lost 0.9 percent and cement O.43 percent.
