World Bank Mission, during its visit to Watan Card centres in Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh, has expressed its satisfaction over the process of distribution of Watan cards.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Khalid Sherdil said that pursuant to the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the second phase of distribution of Watan cards worth Rs 40,000 each had been started under rehabilitation programme for flood affectees, under which Watan cards of Rs 11.8 billions had been distributed among 295,000 flood affectees.
He said those cards had been distributed among the flood affectees of Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Jhang, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
Khalid Sherdil said that earlier, 616,568 Watan cards worth Rs 12.3 million had been released to flood affectees as financial assistance. He said the process of distribution of Watan cards was continuing transparently at Watan cards centres throughout the province. He said WB Mission had highly appreciated the process of distribution of Watan cards and efforts made by the Punjab government which was a glorious example of good governance.
