'Government attaching great importance to welfare of labourers'

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provincial government is attaching great importance to the welfare of the labourers. He said besides implementing relevant laws for the welfare of the workers, best residential, educational and medical facilities have been provided to them so that they could live peacefully.
He said this while inspecting Labour Complex on Defence Road, Sunday. Provincial Minister Ch Abdul Ghafoor, Secretary Labour and other officials were also present on this occasion. Shahbaz Sharif said on this occasion that Labour Complex has been constructed on 47 acre at a cost of Rs 2177 million on Defence Road. He said that 1296 flats have been constructed for labourers in this residential complex. The chief minister said that besides modern residential facilities, school, community centre, park, graveyard and other basic amenities have also been provided in this complex. He said that the most modern residential flats having all facilities have been constructed in this complex. He said that construction of Labour Complex by Workers Welfare Board is an important step towards the welfare of labour community. He said that these flats would be allotted to deserving industrial workers through a very transparent balloting.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that a college and a hospital should be constructed for the facility of workers' children in Labour Complex so that best educational and health facilities be made available to the residents at their doorstep. He further said that industrial home should also be constructed for the children of workers. He said that the Labour Complex will be unique of its kind with regard to quality construction and facilities. Earlier, Secretary Labour Hassan Iqbal in his briefing informed that the labour complex will be completed April this year.
