Azad Jammu Kashmir government has launched an integrated plan to extend basic health care facilities to the masses at their doorsteps. The official sources told APP on Monday that under the plan the newly-constructed 50-bed hospital, set up by a non-governmental organisation, in Jatlan town of Mirpur has yet started functioning.
The hospital has been furnished with all required latest equipment of the most modern technology. Free eye and medical camps would separately be set up to provide free treatment to the patients, sources said. Meanwhile, under the plan, the AJK government has allocated colossal funds in the current fiscal year to improve the medical services from the public-sector hospitals.
In the health sector, District Headquarter Hospitals at Bhimber, Bagh, Rawalakot and Sudhanoti (Palandri) will be established while Major hospitals in Muzaffarabad will be provided with latest medical and surgical equipment to provide treatment of even chronic diseases in the hospital besides for the laboratory, Radiology and Cardiology centers of the hospital, sources continued. The sources further said that an additional amount would be provided by the government of Pakistan under Population welfare and primary health care programmes during the current financial year in AJK.
