Shahbaz elected PML-N Punjab President unopposed

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has been elected unopposed as President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab. A five-member committee of the PML-N led by Ghous Ali Shah announced the result in a meeting of the PML-N Punjab general council held here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Monday.
No other candidate filed papers against Shahbaz Sharif, hence he was elected President PML-N Punjab unopposed. Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal has also been elected as senior vice-president of PML-N Punjab. The general council authorised Shahbaz Sharif to announce the other office-bearers. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani congratulated Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif on his unopposed election as the President of PML-N Punjab.
Addressing the gathering, newly elected PML-N Punjab President Shahbaz Sharif said that he was grateful to workers of his party who elected him for this position. Shahbaz said he was thankful to Allah Almighty for having been elected as the President of PML-N Punjab and he would come up to the expectations of the party as well as its leadership, adding that he would make his best efforts to discharge his responsibilities efficiently.
