'Kashful-Mahjoob conference' organised at PU

Punjab University, Hajveri Chair, in collaboration with the teaching and research departments of Oriental College organised, a one day conference on "Kashful-Mahjoob, Critical Analyses of Printing and Translations" on Monday.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Professor Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar, Professor Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, Principal Oriental College Mazhar Moeen, Justice Munir Ahmed Mughal (rtd), research scholars and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran stated that there was a need of rectification and improvement in the translations of Kashful Mahjoob and we were responsible for inaccuracies. He said this conference would not only help scholars to share ideas with each other but also realise students that there was a lot of space and areas to work on.
He advised the students to master their subjects, language and history and increase their knowledge by enhancing reading habits. Professor Dr Zahoor Ahmed said Kashful Mahjoob was a great and first book on Tasawuf in Persian. He said that unfortunately, all the editions of the book have much mistakes but now a Russian and an Iranian scholar, named Dr Mahmood Abidi, had worked hard to bring the accurate edition.
He said that it would be a matter of pride for Punjab University if it published the best edition of the book, which would be used for citation. Professor Abdul Jabbar, Professor Muhammad Illyas Azmi, Dr Humayyun Abbas, Dr Ismatullah, Dr Ghulam Moeen uddin Nizami, Dr Tahseen Faraqi and Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori also spoke on the occasion.
