Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar on Monday visited the University of Science and Technology in Bannu Township, where he laid the foundation stone of central Library and planted a sapling in the university campus. He also inspected the ongoing construction process in the university. Later the Governor attended a briefing in which he was briefed on the profile of the university covering administrative, academic and other related affair.
The Vice Chancellor Dr Professor Asmatullah Khan while briefing the Governor said that the university is spread over an area of 1200 kanals and the construction work was going on for which Rs 751.518 million was initially allocated. He however emphasised that the HEC approved project should be expedited.
He further informed that a number of departments besides agricultural and herbal research are active in the university where the total enrolment is 3600 with 15 percent female students and quite a reasonable number of students from the surrounding tribal areas.
Talking on the occasion the Governor appreciated the progress so far made by the university and assured his all-out support and co-operation in resolving the outstanding problems to overcome the financial, academic and administrative shortcomings. The Governor held out the assurance that the HEC would also be approached with regard to its approved projects. The Governor expressed satisfaction on the overall performance of the university adding that the university had made a remarkable headway in a very short period of time.
