Pakistan participates in Thai's defence exhibition

Pakistan is participating in Thailand's largest-ever defence exhibition titled 'Defence and Security 2012' being held in Bangkok. The four-day international exhibition with the theme 'Be Prepared' will continue till March 8. The exhibition was opened by the Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Ministry of Defence General Sathian Permthongin.
The ceremony was attended by the heads of foreign delegations including several from Asean countries at the ministerial level, as well as the chiefs of the Thai armed forces. The Pakistan delegation is being led by General Muhammad Ahsan Mahmood, Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factories.
At the Impact Exhibition Centre, world-class manufacturers are presenting their latest innovations designed for all three armed forces, security systems, satellites, telecommunication devices to electronic equipments for national defence and security. Pakistan has set up a stall that displays the full range of arms and ammunition and related components being manufactured and exported by POF Wah. The multi-purpose products are eliciting wide interest from the participating defence professionals and potential buyers.
Over 200 companies from 32 countries are taking part in the international exhibition. POF Chairman called on the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Air Force Air Chief Marshal Ittaphorn Subawonge at the Air Force Headquarters. Pakistan's Ambassador to Thailand Sohail Mahmood was also present. The Pakistan delegation also met senior officials of the Thai Ministry of Defence and the law enforcement agencies.
A special weapon named 'POF Eye' - developed to deal more effectively with new challenges of urban warfare and counter-terrorism - has been an object of special interest during the international exhibition. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said the exhibition offers an excellent opportunity to show case Pakistan's defence products. He said it would help reinforce the process of deeper collaboration in the defence field between Pakistan and Thailand.
