An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was killed during encounter near Old Subzi Mandi in the limits of PIB police station. According to police, the incident took place near Old Subzi Mandi where two bandits were busy looting valuables from passers-by. On being informed, the police party rushed to the spot and challenged the bandits.
Reacting to police move, the bandits opened indiscriminate fire on police. Resultantly, an ASI Raja Jalil received bullet injuries and died on the spot. The bandits managed to flee from the scene after committing the crime. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim was deployed in PIB police station and was a resident of Brigade police quarter. No case was registered till filing of this report.
