Protests cause massive gridlock

Protests at the head office of water board and Gulshan-e-Jamal has caused massive gridlocks at Rashid Minhas road and Shahrah Faisal for hours on Friday. According to details, the inhabitants of Gulshan-e-Jamal on Friday staged protest demonstration against the suspension of water and power supply in the area for hours.
The protesters, who chanted slogans against the administrations of the water board and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), demanded to restore the supply of same on immediate basis. The enraged protesters also burnt tiers and blocked main Rashid Minhas road for one and a half hours, creating severe gridlocks from Rashid Minhas road to Drig road. Later, the protesters were peacefully dispersed after successful negotiations with the authorities.
Yet another protest was staged by the owners of water tankers in front of KW&SB head office. The protesters parked water tankers at Shahrah Faisal and blocked the artery for half an hour. They demanded to the management of water board to eliminate the role of third party in water contracts. They also urged the management not only grant water contracts directly to them but also take stern measures to obliterate illegal water hydrants from the city. The protest has caused massive traffic jam at Sharah Faisal for at least an hour. Later the protesters were dispersed after the assurance given by the management KWSB to address their issues.
