Broadening tax base: Chairman FBR invites KCCI's proposals

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Mumtaz Haider Rizi has invited Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry's proposals to broaden the tax-base. Speaking at a meeting on Saturday with representatives of KCCI at Custom House, he further said that the country needed to broaden the tax net and overcome the issue of flying invoices.
The KCCI delegation informed the chairman FBR about business and industrial community related to SRO 191(1)/2012 and demanded its withdrawal. The delegation said that the condition for collecting copy of CNIC was not practicable therefore FBR should withdraw it has created unrest among the business community. The chairman FBR assured that the issue would be discussed in detail in the follow-up meeting scheduled in the next week. The delegation apprised the Chairman FBR about the taxation problems facing KCCI members.
