Anti-polio drive begins in Larkana from today

All out arrangements have been finalised for the National Immunization Campaign of Polio. More than 283540 children of the Larkana district upto five years of age would be vaccinated Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) during the three-day National polio campaign starting from March 12 upto March 14 to save them from the crippling disease of Polio.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, Executive District Officer Health Services Larkana Dr Abdul Fateh Bughio, said the children upto five years of age would be administered oral polio vaccine (OPV) during the three days campaign. In this three day polio campaign the dose of Vitamin-A will also be administered to the children upto five years of age, he added.
He said 572 mobile teams have been constituted which would visit all the areas including the remote areas of the district to accomplish the task. He further said that three mobile polio teams have also been constituted in Larkana city to cover children during three days campaign.
The EDO (Health) said that thirty 36 transit polio teams have also been constituted in the district in this regard and they would be available at Railway Station, Bus stops and various markets of the district during the 03-day anti-polio campaign.
Executive District Officer Health Larkana Dr Abdul Fateh Bughio said Larkana district has been declared as a "Polio Free District" and to maintain it all estimated number of 283540 children, aged 5 years, must be covered.
