The super blue blood moon and the total lunar eclipse that took place yesterday got the whole world excited. People from around the globe captured images and talked about the rare event on social media. However, there are also prophecies revolving around, that this moon is a sign of an apocalypse.

The theory has been linked to the biblical prophecies in the ‘Book of Joel’ that states that the end of the world will initiate when "the Sun will turn into darkness, and the Moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”

References have also been given from the holy book ‘Book of Revelation’ that states, “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.”

A popular YouTuber Pastor Paul Begley warned about the occurrence saying, “Are you serious? Put a seat belt on, buckle down, the super blue blood moon is about to appear. The Devil's back has got to be breaking; it's the birthing pains of the end times. We are living in the final days. It's all about the super blue blood moon; it is a prophetic sign of the end times.”

According to Express.co, he also pleaded his followers to pray for salvation, “Don’t wait too late folks. Pray church.”

However, NASA’s theory explains otherwise. The red color of the moon is only because of Earth blocking the Sun, a similar happening through which the sky turns reddish at the time of sunset. According to Daily Star, blood moons happen about twice in a year, but the super blue blood moon was seen after over 150 years. This suggests that there have been around 3,900 blood moons since the Book of Revelation that was written somewhere around 69 AD.

Dr Daniel Brown, an astronomy expert, also said, “The term blood moon is actually quite misleading. The Moon will become much darker and take on an ash-grey color – there will be no extensive red color. Calling it a blood moon is rather exaggerated; only after large volcanic eruptions would we expect a rusty red color, which will not be the case this time.”
