Farooq Sattar demands commission on Balochistan

16 Mar, 2012

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) central leader, Dr Farooq Sattar while expressing concern over the situation in Balochistan, said that a commission on Balochistan should be formed to hold talks with those Baloch people who are demanding separation.
Talking to Business Recorder after the conference on "Federalism in Pakistan After 18th Amendment', organised by Department of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) LUMS, in collaboration with Hans Seidel Foundation, he further said the commission should be comprised of senators from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa besides members of national assembly from different political parties.
The proposed commission should be empowered to hold talks with the separatist elements in Balochistan in a bid to bring them in the national mainstream by removing their reservations, he added. He said it is unfortunate that despite the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e Balochistan and the passage of 18th Amendment the situation in Balochistan had not improved.
