Jamaat-i-Islami Bara, Khyber Agency demanded immediate stoppage of ongoing operation in the agency, saying that innocent people were killed in the name of operation, which was totally unjustified action.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday JI Bara Tehsil Amir Ikhtiar Badshah Afridi said that 15 innocent people had been killed on March 13 during a search operation and the bodies remained in the streets due to excessive firing and unending curfew in the area.
Flanked by other tribesmen Habib-ur-Rehman Afridi, Sultan Akbar Afridi and Shah Jehan Afridi, he said that the operation was in progress in the Sepah area where the personnel of security forces were not allowing the people to shift the bodies for burial.
As a result of stray bullets and mortar shells, he said that five women and seven children had been killed during the past three days for no reasons but their bodies are yet to be buried. He said that the security forces had established bunkers in houses of the people and movement of the residents had been restricted and that was why students of grade 9th and 10th could not appear at their examinations. "Now the people are running short of food items and other items of basic requirements but the political administration is not helping them," he alleged. Afridi appealed to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Prime Minister and President Asif Ali Zardari to take notice of the killing of innocent people and stop the operation.
