Pak Tea House: proposals rejected

Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik has rejected the proposals of restoration of Pak Tea House on the pattern of British style and issued instructions for evolving a new project within three days for revival of Pak Tea House in accordance with its original spirit.
He issued this order while presiding over a meeting regarding the restoration of Pak Tea House on Saturday, disclosed an official. The meeting was also attended by Private Secretary to Chief Minister Khawaja Imran Raza, District Officer Roads, Additional Secretary Walled City Project Rizwan Mali, Additional Director Security Colonel Younas Bherola (Retd) and Secretary General YMCA.
The commissioner said a strategy should be evolved with the YMCA administration, so that upper two stories could be included in the Pak Tea House to provide more facilities to writers, poets, columnists, journalists and intellectuals. He also issued instructions for the purchase of furniture and crockery for Pak Tea House by keeping in view that these items revives old memories of Pak Tea House. A committee is being constituted comprising representatives of CDGL, YMCA, writers and intellectuals for the management of Pak Tea House, he added.
