US MIDDAY: soyabeans down

23 Mar, 2012

Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures fell on Thursday on disappointing exports and fears that economic concerns will slash demand from top soya buyer China, traders said. A weekly US Agriculture Department report showed that export sales of soyabeans were just 532,800 tonnes, the lowest in seven weeks and below the low end of trade estimates for 900,000 to 1 million tonnes.
At 10:25 am CDT (1525 GMT), CBOT May soyabeans were down 8 cents at $13.47 a bushel. Prices fell to a low of $13.38-1/2 early in the session before finding support near their 20-day moving average. CBOT May wheat was down 2-1/4 cents at $6.34 a bushel and CBOT May corn was 1/2 cent lower at $6.41-1/2 a bushel.
